Hundreds marched through downtown Newark yesterday evening to commemorate the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. 43 years earlier, and to celebrate his legacy of defending workers’ rights.

A rally was held in Newark to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The rally on Market and Broad streets was held by People’s Organization for Progress.

The group says that the work King did is threatened with what they call attacks on organized labor.
