On Tuesday, August 21st, the People’s Organization for Progress and the Friends of Nat Turner Park will host their 9th annual observation of the epic Nat Turner Rebellion at 5pm at Nat Turner Park, located on Muhammad Ali Avenue (near Irvine Turner Blvd and Bergen Street), in Newark.
On August 21st, 1831, Nat Turner led one of the most important slave revolts of that era! Although it was militarily put down, it sent shockwaves around the world and led many to think that the sinister institution was no longer invincible as its investors previously believed!
