On Monday, January 20th, the People’s Organization for Progress will host its annual ‘March for Racial Equality, Economic Justice and Peace,’ in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Participants will assemble at Broad and Market Streets, downtown Newark at 3pm.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.

He spent his last birthday in 1968 organizing ‘the Poor’s People’s Campaign. In 1986, after a broad-based protest campaign, Dr. King’s birthday became national holiday. It is observed every Monday on or immediately after January 15th.
