Lawrence Hamm, State Chairman of the People’s Organization for Progress, was the recipient of the 2013 NJEA Dr. Martim Luther King Jr. Human Rights Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions toward the advancement of human and civil rights in education in connection with his life-long grass-roots social justice organizing. These photos were taken at the NJEA 39th Anniversary Dr. Martin Luther King Human Rights Celebration held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Brunswick Hilton and Towers in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

Mr. Hamm was nominated by NJEA member Annette Alston, a leader of the Newark Teachers Association.
