THE PEOPLES ORGANIZATION FOR PROGRESS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

POP TO MEMORIALIZE DARRELL GRAHAM

FALLEN ANTIVIOLENCE CHAIR

On Thursday, February 7th, the People’s Organization for Progress will memorialize their recent fallen anti street violence chair Darrell Graham.

Graham’s memorial will take place after the organization’s abbreviated general assembly meeting at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, 224 West Kinney Street, Newark. It will begin at 7pm.

Graham, 58, passed away on January 11th after a long illness.

“Darrell Graham embodied the grassroots spirit of our people for our organization,” said a somber Lawrence Hamm, the organization’s founding chairman.

“He made our organization a respected resource around the deadly plague of street violence in both Essex and Union Counties.”

“He will sorely be missed,” he finished emotionally.

Graham was with the organization for nearly fifteen years. In addition to helping the organization break ground in anti-violence work, Graham also served as the organization’s sergeant of arms and was an important presence in its police brutality work and its work on reparations.
