Newark – It was no small feat, even for a dogged group like the People’s Organization for Progress and its leader Lawrence Hamm.

This week, the group concluded 381 consecutive days of protest in Newark which they held to match the same number of days of the Montgomery bus boycotts in the mid-1950s.

In the heat of summer and the cold of winter, protesters blared bullhorns and waved placards. Over the past year, they became a fixture on the corner of Springfield Avenue and West Market Street.
